Get Your Family Back to the Table

In a world of busy schedules, screens, and constant noise, families are drifting further apart—especially at the dinner table. Get Your Family Back to the Table is a unique, two-in-one book: Part One is written specifically for adolescents, and Part Two is designed for parents. Both are bound together under one spine with a single mission… to help families talk, listen, and truly connect again.

How the Book Works

One Book. Two Perspectives. One Table.

  • Part One: The Adolescent Section Real, relatable guidance for teens—covering stress, friendships, social media, family dynamics, and the pressures of growing up. It’s written in a voice they’ll actually connect with, not tune out, helping them open up and communicate more honestly at home.

  • Part Two: The Parent Section Practical tools, stories, and conversation prompts that help parents slow down, listen more intentionally, and build meaningful connection—starting with the simple act of sharing a meal. This section also equips parents to talk with adolescents about hard topics such as bullying, isolation, and eating disorders, just to name a few.

Together, both parts are designed to work hand in hand, helping families shift from quick check-ins and passing conversations… to honest dialogue, shared memories, and a stronger, more connected home life.

Dawn Fuchs Coleman

I wrote Get Your Family Back to the Table because young families today are facing the same challenges I faced decades ago—only now, life is louder, faster, and more demanding. Families are constantly running, juggling schedules, and trying to stay connected while real communication slips through the cracks. Many no longer have the support of grandparents or extended family, making parenting feel like navigating a deserted island with limited time, resources, and help.

This book was created to offer structure, guidance, and simple tools busy families can use to raise confident, capable, and independent young adults. Today, more children are struggling to launch into adulthood. Many are staying home longer due to financial pressures, while stress, anxiety, and the digital world continue to rise around them—pulling families further apart.

Get Your Family Back to the Table encourages families to slow down, reconnect, and have meaningful conversations—not just talk about schedules and to-dos. A few intentional moments can make a lasting impact.

My father read the book and said, “Wow… what a piece of art.” He’s already shared it with several families who are right in the thick of raising children today. That’s why I believe this book matters—and why I’m grateful you’re here, ready to bring your family back to the table.

" In an ever-complicating world, Dawn Fuchs Coleman provides a compelling yet compassionate roadmap for building the resilient, heart-centered relationships every parent and child deserves. Her book masterfully outlines a practical, dialogical approach for families interested in building unbreakable bonds. Through empathetic guidance and actionable heart, mind, and body-based strategies, Get Your Family Back to the Table helps navigate the challenges of parenting to cultivate deep trust, open communication, and lasting emotional connections. While similar books remain on the book shelf, Coleman’s practical strategies of unconditional love and genuine communication make this an unending must-read for any family. "

TESTIMONIALS

What people are saying

" Get Your Family Back to the Table is a high impact read. Ann and I have been married for 56 years. We have been blessed with eight wonderful children and six magnificent sons/daughters-in-law, two religious’ vocations, and 40 grandchildren. Get Your Family Back to the Table is full of sound reasoning on why families need to examine how their family is currently operating and see what adjustments they can make now to avoid possible regrets and hardships later.

You will find it to be transparent and authentic given today’s climate filled with busy families running from sporting events to music class and seeking 5-star reviews as an Uber driver instead of excellence in parenthood. Enjoy. You will find this resource a worthy addition to your bookshelf, and more importantly, helpful in your mission.”

“A must-have for families, Dawn’s book offers heartfelt wisdom and practical tools to help parents and children communicate, connect, and thrive together. In a world where schedules are packed and meaningful conversations feel rare, this resource provides simple strategies that can be implemented immediately. It reminds us that strong families are built with intention, consistency, and shared values—often starting with something as ordinary, yet powerful, as sitting together around the table.

“As a parent, this book was the gentle wake-up call I didn’t know I needed. Dawn captures what modern families are missing: time, meaningful connection, and authentic conversations. And this book delivers with warmth, humor, and practicality. Her stories feel real, her advice feels doable, and her heart for families shines through every page. After reading Get Your Family Back to the Table, I was inspired to get our family following Dawn’s guidance—talking, engaging, and listening again. This isn’t just a book. It’s a roadmap for every parent who wants more connection and less chaos.
